World Detour Season 2 Sacrifices and Rewards
I am back on the road again filming Season 2 of Ozzy and Jack’s World Detour! This season is on A&E and follows my dad and me going on an impromptu road trip, exploring the wonderful and the bizarre. It has been quite the experience thus far and I wouldn’t trade it for the world, but there are also some challenges that come with it.
Dad is starting to get a little older, so it’s more like I am producing, starring, and babysitting on a TV show, but the hardest part about the whole thing though is being away from my wife Lisa and two daughters, Pearl and Andy. It is really hard being away from my kids when they are at an age where they are growing so much every single day. Sometimes when I come back after a long trip away, I feel like there are so many things I missed. MS is unpredictable so I try to spend as much time as I can with my girls.
While those highlight some of my challenges with being a part of this TV show, there have to be some positives that outweigh the negatives, right? Well to start, the number one reason I’m doing this show is for the time I get to spend with my dad. We get so many opportunities to explore and discover new things together. We have so much fun, and this experience, albeit beyond exhausting, has brought me closer to him and led me to understand more about myself in the process. Making a TV show is a privilege, not a right. Someone is trusting us with a large portion of money with the promise that we are going to make something that people want to watch. The exciting part about this is that we have no idea what people want to watch! All I know is what I want to watch, and the rest is a guessing game. It’s so rewarding and I feel lucky to be able to work on this and the You Don’t Know Jack About MS® campaign, both projects that fulfill me.
We will be wrapping up production on World Detour Season 2 this summer. I can’t wait for you all to see what we’ve created!
